Parging and new Dumpster - July 10/09

The parging has also been delayed because of the rain. Friday dawned sunny and hot and the first coat of parging was completed. Goodness knows when it'll be nice for long enough to do the second coat. It looks so much better now without the pink insulation showing. Starting to look like a real house again. The dumpster was delivered in the afternoon. There's still a ton of stuff to go to the dump. They also decided that it would be easier to start fresh with the wiring, rather than try and figure out where everything was going from the electrical panel. We start our 10th week in the trailer tomorrow (63 days) and there have been 25 days of rain - but who's counting?

Backfill Completed - July 09/09

After delays because of the many soggy days, the backfill was finally completed, and we can enter the cottage without the aid of a ladder. Yahoo!!! There were three dump trucks full of sand, and after the torrential rains on Saturday, much of this ended up in the holes that had been dug for the porch sonotubes at the front. John was one whupped puppy after digging all that out.

Enough is Enough - July 07/09

We had a meeting with the electricians in the cottage this morning at 8:30 a.m. It was raining hard and very dark and the lights in the trailer shining so brightly made it just look pathetic huddled in the rain. We have both noticed on days like this that we have large smiles on our faces when we leave R2 and are getting out of here.

Fill That Dumpster - July 3/09

A dumpster was delivered July 2nd. Mike and Al started filling it the next day. To begin they cut the dorm window down to the floor in preparation for having the wallboard hoisted to the second floor when it is delivered. They had the dumpster set below the dorm window so they could throw all the panelling and walls from the second floor directly into it. I asked John to get an "action shot" of them throwing the junk into the dumpster, and after many tries he got a great shot.

They Wrecked Our House - June 25/09

Mike, Al and John completely removed the panelling and walls inside the cottage within a couple of days. It's unbelievable to see. From the front of the trailer you can see the lake through the back bedroom, bathroom and closet under the stairs. Wierd.

Being Trailer Trash Runs in the Family - June 22/09

The guys (Rolly, Tom and John) went to play golf and Wendy and I visited over the roar of the generator. Kerry and Ivan joined us all for a simple barbecue dinner. It was a sunny and gorgeous afternoon, but the only shade available where we all fit was the parking lot. Never thought I'd see this!!! Missed you, Marilyn.
